Song Time - Be Lifted High

This song came together in about 4 days.

It's a simple song that aims to exalt the Lord.  Hope you love it.

Be lifted high, God almighty
Be lifted high, Savior of the world
Be lifted high, God almighty
Be lifted high, Savior of the world
Be lifted high

No eye has ever seen
No ear has ever heard
No mind can concieve
All the wonders of Your love

Glory to the Lord almighty
To the one who was and is and yet to come
Joining with all of the heavens
and all of creation
"Holy is the Lord"

Here's some song notes that hopefully help deciphering what I've written here:
- The middle section references 1 Corinthians 2:9-10.  In it I'm trying to communicate the greatness of God's love.  That however great or incredible we have seen, heard, or understand God's love to be, it cannot compare to what God's love really is.

- A lot of times I sing songs that I have no idea what it means.  I just sing it cause it sounds nice.  So the part "to the One who was and is and yet to come"...yeah.  I didn't really understand that.  So I did a little researching and God is known as the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.  He was there when the world began, he came to us as Jesus, and will come again for us one day.  It's kinda funny that I need to research the meaning to my own songs. Anyway, just being real with you.

- I did have an issue with the "all of the heavenS" line.  I thought about changing it to angels or something like that, but Psalm 19 says "The heavenS declare the glory of God..." So if it's in the bible, it can be in my song.  In that line though, I just wanted to encompass all things we think of as heavenly: angels, heroes of the faith (like Moses, David, Noah, etc), all of those who have past on...that we join with them in our praise.

Song time - Oh My Soul (the rewrite)

I've heard it preached/taught before that David was commanding his soul to praise God (in Psalm 103:1NASB).  That despite the hardships and difficulties we encounter (or bring upon ourselves), God is worthy to be praised and we need to remind ourselves of that...we need to sometimes command our soul to praise the Lord.

So here is the 3rd re-write of this song.  I think it is finished...
(Also I kinda messed up while singing it, but I'm too lazy to fix it up...and it doesn't sound THAT bad.)

Anyways...here we go again.

Oh My Soul

Oh my soul
Oh my soul
Oh my soul
Praise the Lord

He is good, He is good
and His love forever endures
He is peace, He is peace
Comfort for all who are in need
He is hope, He is hope
Like the dawn comes our Savior
He is God, He is God
Glorious, Sing my soul
sing now

Holy is the Lord
Holy is the Lord

Let everything within me
respond to all my eyes see
through the veil of faith and the living Word
Holy Spirit come let me see the hope
That I have in You
You alone are worthy to be praised
Forevermore
Hallelujah Hallelujah

Song Time - Revived (3/9/12)

Changed up the song a bit.  I like it a little better than the other version.  Hope you do as well.

REVIVED

breathe in me
Your breath of life
breathe in me
Your breath of life

And I am revived, filled with Your life
Consumed by the power of Your great love
Your mercy Your grace
My redemption from shame
My sin's washed away and I am made new
In You
In You

the deaf will hear
the blind will see
the lame will rise up
the captive will be free

And we are revived, filled with Your life
Consumed by the power of Your great love
Your mercy Your grace
Our redemption from shame
Our sin's washed away and we are made new
In You
In You

Song Time - Revived

UPDATE: changed this song a little bit. You can find the updated version here.

So just wrote a new song...
Calling it "Revived".
Just a simple prayer to the LORD.
Let me know what you think! (but be gentle please)
Here's the lyrics...

breathe Your breath of life
breathe Your breath of life
breathe Your breath of life
into me
(into me)

And I am revived, filled with Your life
Consumed by the power of Your great love
Your mercy Your grace
My redemption from shame
My sins washed away and I am made new
In You
In You

the deaf will hear
the blind will see
the lame will rise up
the captive will be free

Oh Lord we hear You
Oh Lord we see
Oh God we rise up
For You have set us free

And we are revived, filled with Your life
Consumed by the power of Your great love
Your mercy Your grace
Our redemption from shame
Our sins washed away and we are made new
In You
In You

So there it is...
I'm just trying to write songs because all I want is for us to be able to sing and give thanks to our Savior.
Hope it connected with you in some way...hopefully a good way.

Song time - Be Still

wrote this song going through a rough patch in my life...it's about trusting that even though everything seems to be crashing down around me, I need to make time to stop and realize the LORD is there and He is God.

BeStill(082311DEMO) by jaredmiyamoto

Chorus
I will be still   I will wait here
For You to come O LORD
For You to come

Verse1
(&) save the day, rescue me once again
speaking to me words of hope
& peace, driving away all I fear

PreChorus1
In the valley of the shadow
I will find my strength in You

(Chorus)

Verse2
(&) take my hand, I am reaching out to You again
I have tried to make it on my own
but failed. I am weary and in need of rest

PreChorus2
Like the prodigal I must confess
Only You can fill this emptiness, so...

(Chorus)

Bridge
In the valley of the shadow
I will find my strength in You
Like the prodigal I must confess
Only You can fill this emptiness, so...

(Chorus)

Let your light shine.....

Song time - You & I

To those of you who read the blog from time to time, you probably have heard this one already. But for those of you who have just started reading...this'll be new. I just uploaded another song.

It's called You & I and basically I wrote this for Tiana. Just to say that I love her and I always will love her no matter what lies ahead. Thanks for reading and thanks for listening!

Death In His Grave

This is one of my favorite songs from John Mark McMillan. Death in His Grave speaks about the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus in a way I had never heard before. Have a listen:

Recently John Mark blogged about this song and gave a line by line commentary. I was super stoked to hear that he was doing this...and when he posted it, I was not disappointed. If you're interested, here's the link. For me, it is really eye opening to see the actual depth of this song. I love it even more. Hope you do, too.

p.s. 4/22 I kinda wish I could've been there in that little crowd when they were doing this video. Even in the back, that would've been good enough. I also realize that I would have been the only non white person there. That would've been cool, too.

Song time

So here's the song I wrote for my wife (Tiana). I have a few reservations about putting this up. But I called this blog stories, notes, & songs...so I gotta put up a song at least once.  Actually maybe at least twice cause songs is plural.  DOUGH!  BTW do you know how hard it is to put up a song w/ just a media player?  Well whatever the answer, it's too hard for me.  It's weird that you can post a video which has pictures AND sound, but you can't just upload an mp3 (just sound) easily to blogger.  You might be asking, well why didn't you just use the camera on your computer?  Well, I would say to you that I have a phobia of that.

One more thing, just want to give the photo credit to my friend: Mel Canite...thanks Mel! (@Mel, I'll remove the pic if you want me to) AND w/o further ado...

Did you hear where I messed up?  (The lyrics are here) AND I don't know what I was doing there at the end...I get nervous easily.   Haha.

(Love you, Tiana)

You & I

These are some lyrics to a song I wrote for my wife a couple years ago.  The title isn't that original, but I think the song itself isn't that bad.  I'll try to get a video or recording of it up some time.  But until then, it's just this:

You & I
In the beginning it was just you and me / you and me
Trying to do things right / learning how to love each other
Learning how to treat each other right
And though some people said we wouldn't make it very far
They didn't know what we had & we still have it
It's just a little thing called love

(and) If love is all we'll ever have
we'll be alright / cause love is all we'll ever need

You & I will always be / no matter what may come
no matter what may come
You & I will always be / no matter what may come
no matter what may come / just wait & see

Now as we go down this road together / you & I
We gotta help each other on / cause there'll be times in life
When we get tired
And we've seen our share of ups and downs already, you & I
But through the good and through the bad / one thing has never changed
One thing has stayed the same
